June 2018 issue out now – IEEE Region 8 News

Your new 16-page issue of IEEE Region 8 News is now available to download by clicking here. Members with a print subscription to IEEE Spectrum will also receive their glossy hard copy edition by post within the first week of June.

This issue contains a full report on the Region 8 Committee Meeting in Athens, a look back at 10 years of Membership Development training workshops, and helpful guides on establishing and running a successful Section. We also investigate what IEEE’s new European office in Vienna, Austria, has been up to in recent months – advising the EU Parliament on policy, encouraging tech startups and accelerating the development of new standards, among other things.

Our Section reports include photos (and the intriguing background story) from UK and Ireland’s Milestone event in Dundee, Scotland, as well as lots of events taking place in Tunisia and a celebration of Latvia Section’s last decade. You’ll also find reports from Young Professionals and Student Branches, and we have expanded our coverage of Women In Engineering.

Oh, and there’s another FREE contest to win a book: this time, it’s on the theme of the so-called Singularity.

Remember that you can contribute to IEEE Region 8 News by sending in your Section, Chapter, Society and Affinity Group reports. We also welcome letters for discussion and articles on all topics related to IEEE fields of interest, especially if they have a Region 8 focus.
