Dear Regional Website Contest 2014 participants,
The IEEE Region 8 SAC team is very pleased to announce the official results of the Regional Website Contest 2014. After challenging evaluation process, which covered 35 websites (new R8 record!) the SAC team has chosen 3 best websites, which will represent R8 in the IEEE Global Website Contest 2014.
– 1st place: IEEE Student Branch JKU Linz (Austria Section): http://www.ieee.jku.at/
– 2nd place: IEEE Alexandria Student Branch (Egipt Section): http://alexsb.org/
– 3rd place: IEEE Student Branch Gent (Benelux Section): http://www.ieeesb.ugent.be/
Congratulations for this excellent results and many, many thanks to all Student Branches for their participation in the contest. Comparing to the last year, we have noticed many positive changes ! The presentation of the contents as well as the design of the templates with related graphics was so much improved that the difference between particular websites was really small. The places on our list ranking differ only by 1 – 3 points ! We wish we could qualify more websites for the IEEE Global Website Contest 2014 but according to the rules we can choose the 3 best entries only.
Dear R8 SB members, we really admire your effort in creating your websites. You did an amaizng job ! And remember, we are looking forward for your submissions in 2015 !
On behalf of R8 SAC,
Piotr Graca, Awards & Contests Coordinator

Hi IEEE Volunteers!
September is a great month, it marks the beginning of a new college year in Universities from all parts of Region 8 and to commemorate the new year, IEEE R8SAC has been working in a new logo that will work as the brand of Student Activities across this region.
Without further due, welcome the new R8SAC logo:
Our goal was to create a easy recognisable jewel that marks all IEEE R8SAC actions, activities, programs a projects, so you can easily recognise it as our seal of quality and the proof of an hard working team, willing to work with all students, sharing IEEE mantra, “Advancing Technology for Humanity”
We sincerely hope you like it, this marks the first of many new things coming this year for you.
All IEEE R8SAC wishes you the best for this academic year!
Greetings IEEE Volunteers!
IEEE Job webpage has posted an interesting article about the demand for engineers in Europe, it’s definitely worth a read!
A low graduation rate and aging workforce is causing a “severe” shortage of technical professionals
There’s still a strong demand in Europe for engineers, despite high unemployment in the overall workforce, and ongoing economic uncertainties globally.
And while there appears to be fewer job openings posted this year than in the past for American companies with facilities in Europe, human resource professionals of European-based companies complain that there’s not enough “talent” to go around.

Check MESBC on
The 3rd IEEE Iberian Student Branch Congress is organized by the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Porto with the aim of having together the IEEE student members from Portugal and Spain, as well as students and guests from all the IEEE Region 8 countries (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia).
IEEE CEuSBC is an international event where more than 100 young engineering students and young professionals from Central Europe and neighbouring regions meet together to familiarize with trends in science and technology, discuss present and future engineering challenges, develop new skills and share technical, social and professional experiences. Moreover, the CEuSBC is the right place where students can learn more about the IEEE and reflect on their careers.
