Ana Inês Inácio – Region 8 Student Representative
I am Inês and I am a Portuguese who is leaving in The Netherlands.
I am an Electronics and Telecom. Engineer with a Masters from University of Aveiro (UA) and University of Eindhoven. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD degree at the University of Twente (UT), in the Integrated Circuit Design Group. Throughout my academic years, I have been involved in the UA SB and UT SB, being responsible for their revitalization in 2010 and 2016, respectively. Meanwhile, I also served as the Chair of the Benelux YP Affinity Group, in 2015/16.
Since 2010, after meeting many visionary people at Leuven SB and GOLD Congress, I had no doubt on what IEEE could do for myself. Since then, dream affirmations as:
This is so cool! [Space, programming, robots, random SW, …] I would really like to know more about it!
…became so easily achievable!
I believe that passion for humanity and technology can take you (almost) anywhere. Hence, my goal as Region 8 Student Representative will be to assist, challenge and inspire as many motivated students and members to bring their valuable contribution to our society.
Sara BEN RABII – Region 8 Student Branch Coordinator
I’m José Miguel A. Sepulcre and Im a student of Electronic & Industrial Automation engineering degree and Electrical engineering degree in University Miguel Hernández of Elche, Spain. I’m member of IEEE since 2014 and I’ve served as secretary on my student branch and as the Section Student Representative in Section Spain in 2015-2017. My first big experience was 2014 SYP Krakow and the motivation it supplied me keeps growing with each IEEE event I participate in.
Yara Melki – Region 8 Awards & Contests Coordinator
My name is Yara Melki, and I am a 4th year electrical and computer engineering student, specializing in hardware and power systems, at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
One of the biggest projects I am taking part in revolves around generating energy out of pull-down gym machines. The idea behind this project is to create green energy while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
I have been an active IEEE member for the past 3 years. I started off as an IEEE student representative and then got elected as Vice President of AUB’s student branch. My main contributions to the organization were in 2015 where I was the IEEE Day Ambassador and the Lebanese Chair of the IEEE Grand Tech. The latter is an initiative consisting of a series of technical events in the Arab World, focused on computing technologies.
I am currently acting president of my university’s student branch and Awards and Contests coordinator at the Student Activities in Region 8.
Over the years, many have been members of SAC and contributed to R8 Student Activities. You can find them, starting 2010, in our History page.
