Local Language program

 

The Local Language program is intended to promote activities (online or in person) and online content in different languages (aside from English) in Region 8.

 

This program promotes IEEE content and its areas across the entire Region 8 and has funds available to help these activities be developed.

 

Currently, Region 8 is looking for ambassadors who will arrange several events in their selected local languages. Each ambassador can be nominated in more than one language if they are available.

 

Call for Ambassadors

Applications will be open until the 29th of October, 2023.

Who can apply?

IEEE Members from different sections in Region 8.

Applicants must be able to speak at least one language aside from English fluently.

 

Selected ambassadors will have a max of 200 USD available for this program.

Funding applications will open after the selection of the ambassadors.


IEEE R8 Robot Championship STEM initiative

IEEE R8 Robot Championship 2024

STEM initiative

After being accepted into the Robot Championship 2024, each team of roboters will need to apply for at least two STEM activities.

These two activities must be performed before the physical event in Malta.

 

This is a mandatory aspect of the championship.

Who can apply?

All the competitor teams must apply for, at least, two activities.
External members, such as SBs, can also apply.

 

Awards

Awards will be given to the best three initiatives under the STEM program.
1st place: 400 USD.
2nd: 300 USD.
3rd: 200 USD.

 

Funding

You can apply for funds from the TryEngineering month.

(If you use those funds you must do the activities during the month of November 2024)

IEEE R8 Robot Championship

IEEE R8 Robot Championship 2024

 

The IEEE R8 Robot Championship aims to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among IEEE members, and it will focus on STEM communication, entrepreneurship, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

 

It will take place in Malta, Europe, in the Autumn of 2024  and is open to students in pre-university and university communities. It will be streamed online LIVE.

 

Organised by IEEE Malta Section, IEEE Region 8, IEEE Malta Computer Society, and Professional and Educational Subcommittee.

PEA Subcommittee logo

 

Guidelines:

  1. On light backgrounds, the logo versions containing black text should be used, for both the main logo and sub-brand logos.
  2. On dark backgrounds, the logo versions containing white text should be used, for both the main logo and sub-brand logos.
  3. The logos should not be used on any backgrounds which compromises their readability. These could include busy images and/or illustrations.

Guidelines:

  1. On light and simple backgrounds, the logo version with the wording at the bottom should be used. This version should not be used on any background which compromises the readability of the text.
  2. On busy and dark backgrounds, the logo version which has all the text integrated should be used. This version can also be used on lighter backgrounds.
