The first meeting of the Region’s 8 Operating Committee was held on the 24-26th January in Qatar. Beside the discussions on the future directions of R8 strategic activities and the details of the R8 Committee meeting agenda in Venice, OpCom members had meetings with the Qatar Section officers and local engineers community.

Although the Section is quite “young”, has been in existence for only 5 years, it has been developing and expanding very dynamically. Section Chair Yacob Almulla and Secretary Tariq Masood had prepared an impressive itinerary which, on the first day, included the meeting with a few presentations demonstrating the Section’s activity, technical presentations by several Gulf leaders on the general area of energy on the second day, and a visit at Qatar Petroleum on the last day.
