17 14 Sep 2020 16:00 26 Sep 2020 21:00 IEEE Region 8 Virtual Student and Young Professionals Congress 2020 Central program online + hybrid events in sections R8 Student Activities, R8 Women in Engineering, R8 Young Professionals On-schedule https://www.facebook.com/R8SYP The first ever vSYP Congress of IEEE Region 8 will be held from the 14th to the 26th of September 2020, and will involve a series of plenary sessions, workshops, competitions, social activities, and many more – through separate Student, Young Professional and Women in Engineering tracks. We will follow the good practice of virtual conferences, summits, and other business events, while striving to imbue the tailored focus for our students and young professionals. This implies learning from experts, learning from each other, learning both about the technology and cultures, strong networking, getting feedback from our volunteers to steer Region 8 and the whole IEEE, and of course, doing it all while having fun.

The vSYP 2020 envisions all of this virtually, with each day of 1-3 hours of content, while exploiting the possibilities of the new situation that is presented before us with emphasized access to global speakers and connections, and openness to a wide audience. This time, there are no limits on the number of attendees nor for the geographic distance. While we can’t unfortunately meet each other in person, there are great opportunities to gather locally and meet your nearby volunteers. For this, we are also distributing parts of the vSYP Congress to 69 sections and subsections of IEEE Region 8, which are in some cases doing very well in fighting the epidemics and have opportunities for in-person meetings.
