Returning Mothers Conference 2022

The goal of the Returning Mothers Conference is to encourage and support individuals in returning to the workforce. By putting up a conference that focuses on entrepreneurial training and business setup support, the conference supports individuals who want to maintain their professional lives. Additionally, it offers a very interactive platform to foster communication, creativity, and teamwork for the select group’s empowerment, engagement, and development of innovative minds. The conference discusses how to connect attendees with businesses that are eager to hire women and welcome them back into the national or international workforce. The conference deliberately provides an interface to those who want to resume their careers and have the chance to build their own businesses and exercise their creative sides.

Objective

IEEE Returning Mothers conference is dedicated to helping those who want to get back to work. The main goals of this conference, which is primarily for individuals looking to return to the workforce, particularly in the fields of science and engineering, are to act as an intermediate between those seeking employment and the businesses that are interested in hiring them as well as to support those seeking employment by giving them entrepreneurship training and assisting these emerging entrepreneurs in launching their own startups. In addition, RMC fosters returning citizens who want to re – launch their careers. Concisely, Returning Mothers conference aims to serve as a cooperative and interactive platform that trains participants’ minds and equips them for the future.

Seventh Event of ‘Early Career Talks’ Call for Participation

IEEE WIE UKI goal is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. We envision a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity. IEEE WIE UK and Ireland through the Ambassador Scheme are calling women in engineering to participate in a technical, inspirational, and empowering session tagged “EARLY CAREER TALKS”. The previous events were very successful, they have attracted attention from both academia and industry. This event converges the novel (state-of-the-Art) research areas in Engineering besides establishing networking/collaboration links, exploring new research opportunities for developing interactions between Academia, Industry and Government fostering economic and social development.

Criteria for who should apply and how to apply:

This programme supports engineers from academia or industry who have been in an industry/postgraduate
position for less than 10 years. This session welcomes speakers/presenters from any part of the world who are:

• PhD students close to graduation and have published papers in respectful conferences/journals.
• Engineers who have participated in innovative projects.

When applying, send your photo saved as an image and include the following information in a one-word
document:

1. Area of career (academia/industry).
2. Research interests or work field (e.g Robotic systems or Harvesting Systems).
3. Talk title and what the talk will be about (100-word).
4. Speaker bio (including links and web pages).
5. Email and mobile number to contact in emergency.

Workshop details:

The call for this event closes at 11:59 pm September 27th, 2022
The Session will be held and delivered virtually on Saturday October 22nd , 2022, at 12 pm.

25 Years IEEE WIE | Extraordinary Women Extraordinary Science Seminar Series

Join us for our next Seminar, 06 May 2022 at 9 am EST.

Speaker: Alessandra Flammini

Topic: Distributed measurements and IoT

About the speaker

Join us on 6 May at 9 am EST. for an engaging talk with Alessandra Flammini.

Alessandra Flammini graduated with honors in Physics from the University of Rome in 1985. She is in charge of the *eLUX interdepartmental laboratory* on smart grids and smart living. Since 2019 she has been the chairman of the council of the aggregate study program. She is the author of more than 300 international publications, including journals, patents, and conference proceedings.

The following subjects will be explored

Starting from existing IoT systems, emerging application fields such as mobility will be explored. Distributed measurements, i.e. sensor networks, is evolving in the Internet of Things, including more types of device, reducing waste, and increasing data for artificial intelligence algorithms. The concept of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) foresees a network in which vehicles can communicate with each other to manage traffic, and emergencies and limit pollution. To demonstrate the feasibility of such a vision, some low-cost commercial devices, suitable for current vehicles, show a time latency

on the order of tens of seconds.
