We Are Organizing an Activity. How Can IEEE WIE Help Us?
IEEE WIE can support your activity or event in several ways:
- Promotional materials: Submit a request through the IEEE WIE Promotional Request Form. Review the current eligibility and submission requirements before applying.
- Support and advice: Email [email protected] to discuss your event, request guidance, or explore opportunities for collaboration.
- Promoting your activity: Share your event description, announcement, and photographs with us. We may promote the activity through IEEE Region 8 WIE communication channels.
- Event reporting: Schedule and report your IEEE activities through IEEE vTools Events.
- Funding opportunities: Initial and special funding opportunities may be available for eligible WIE Affinity Groups and Student Branch Affinity Groups. Review the current opportunities, requirements, and application periods on the IEEE WIE Funding page.

What Activities Can We Organize?
WIE Affinity Groups may organize networking, professional development, technical, mentorship, outreach, social responsibility, and community-building activities.

How Can IEEE WIE Help Me Participate in International IEEE Events?
The IEEE WIE Travel Grant Program provides eligible IEEE WIE members with financial support to attend and present at qualifying IEEE-sponsored conferences or IEEE WIE-sponsored events.
Eligibility requirements, application deadlines, required documents, reimbursement conditions, and event exclusions are available on the IEEE WIE Travel Grants page.
How Can We Form a Section WIE Affinity Group?
Before starting the formation process, confirm that a WIE Affinity Group does not already exist within your Section.
- Review the current requirements for forming a WIE Professional Affinity Group.
- Identify an eligible organizer who will coordinate the formation process.
- Recruit the required number of eligible IEEE members to support and sign the petition.
- Obtain the required endorsement from the relevant IEEE Section leadership.
- Submit the IEEE Geographic Unit Petition and follow the approval process.
Current petition requirements, formation instructions, organizer and petitioner eligibility, funding information, and management resources are available on the Form and Manage a WIE Affinity Group page.
After the group has been established, remember to report its officers through IEEE vTools Officer Reporting and schedule and report its activities through IEEE vTools Events.

How Can We Form a Student Branch WIE Affinity Group?
Before beginning the formation process, confirm that a WIE Student Branch Affinity Group does not already exist at your university or institution.
- Review the current requirements for forming a WIE Student Branch Affinity Group.
- Identify an eligible Student or Graduate Student Member to serve as the organizer.
- Recruit the required number of eligible IEEE Student or Graduate Student Members from the institution.
- Identify an eligible Student Branch Affinity Group Advisor and obtain the required endorsements.
- Submit the IEEE Geographic Unit Petition and complete the required approval process.
Current formation requirements and petition instructions are available on the Form and Manage a WIE Affinity Group page.
Once the group is established, report its officers through IEEE vTools Officer Reporting, follow the reporting requirements of the Student Branch, and record activities through IEEE vTools Events.
