The Section Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding Women in Engineering (WIE) volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to promoting WIE activities and leading events within their Section Affinity Group (AG).
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed by the IEEE Region 8 WIE Committee, which will select the winning Section volunteer. The selected candidate will then be validated by the IEEE Region 8 Awards and Recognition Sub-Committee.
The following criteria will be considered when reviewing applications:
- The applicant or nominee must be a WIE Section Affinity Group member in good standing.
- The activities and events cited in support of the application or nomination must have taken place between January 1 and December 31 of the year for which the nomination is being considered.
- The application must include one endorsement letter from the nominee’s Section Chair, highlighting the volunteer’s achievements and contributions to the Affinity Group.
- Both self-applications and nominations are accepted. Any eligible Section Affinity Group volunteer may apply for the award, and any member of the relevant Section may nominate a volunteer.
The winning IEEE Region 8 WIE Section Volunteer will receive an award of USD 250.
